Today I had to say goodbye to my much loved Pug Lili. She was 12 and had been suffering the last months with spinal myelopathy.
Words cannot describe my feeling of grief. Her place at the end of my bed is empty. And so too my heart. When she was 4 weeks old, one of the breeders other dogs bit her left foot and she nearly died.
When my girlfriend and I went to view the litter, the woman told us the story and how it was touch and go for her to live. We knew we had to have the little one with the broken toe. Her name became Lili.
Relationships and jobs and family and life changes have come and gone, but Lili was always by my side. A strapping bloke such as I with his number 1 girl. A pug will do that too you... Touch your heart and warm your soul.
Where did all the years go! Why does life have to be so cruel. I am a better man 12 years on... as tonight I grieve for Lili Pug.
