Shep, for over 17 years, you were my dearest friend. You were the one I told all my secrets to. You were always the first one I called out to and said hello to when I walked in the door.

When you were young, you used to wait by the gate, and when you saw me drive in, you ran to the house. You were the one I reached out to, to give my love to.

What I'll always, always remember is that, when I was in so much pain that I couldn't sleep in bed with you, and had to sleep on the couch, you came to the couch, and went to sleep on the floor next to me.

You made me so very happy. You were my little man. All you wanted was for me to love you, and boy did I love you. Shep, if there is a heaven, I hope I make it there and you'll be waiting for me.
