I never thought that fateful day that I would not be bringing you home. I was told that you were fine, just a tummy bug, and I was bringing you home. 30 minutes later, I was holding you while you went to sleep, never to come home again.
I should have known that you would shock me. You were always full of surprises. I never knew how much I loved you, how much of a friend and companion. And I apologise for taking you for granted.
I could not let you suffer. I had to let you go. I told you that you could go, and that I will do the suffering. I am.
I love you, Poppy, and I miss you so very very much. My little girl, who never grew up and was a puppy for all your 12 years.
Go over the rainbow bridge, Poppy. Go find your sisters Meg and Saffi and the 3 of you all run free. I hope you are all at the rainbow bridge to meet me wen I come to join you,
Love you Pops, Love you Meggy peggy, Love you saffina.
