In the Shape of an Angel for the Friendly Neighbourhood Golden Retriever
In The Shape of an Angel
This is my moment, no lie,
One day when I looked up into the sky,
There was a dog shaped cloud floating by,
And you may think I am a dag,
But I swear that cloud gave me a wink and a wag,
It made me feel light and glad,
It was a fluffy cloud shadowing the earth,
I stood there on my path,
I shed a tear and gave a laugh,
I thought of an old dog I knew,
A golden ball of gentle and true,
A dear soul through and through,
Her name was Angel by name and nature,
This neighbourhood visitor to the human creatures,
Her big friendly eyes but one feature,
Maybe as I passed her human mum Viv's,
Angel had decided to give,
Me a symbol to share with,
The ones who knew Angels affection and love,
A memory in the sky above,
It gave me this poem to think of,
Because I know how much you are missed,
Now you are in an ageless bliss,
And it is like this,
Your memory is there on a sunny day,
You like a child at play,
Yes its sad you went away,
We are just glad this Angel was known,
And in many hearts had grown,
Always there when the wind is a blown,
When the night is clear,
Your nightlight means you're near,
Our Angel one so dear,
You used to pour your love out like sunshine,
You are in my heart and mind.
And in this magical cloudy moment I find.
