If You Would Have Given Me a Sign

If only I knew that day was gonna come so soon.
I would have said my goodbyes the way you did too.
The last day you were here you were laying in the couch with your eyes closed tight.
I called your name and you could barely open your eyes
and when you finally opened them, I could see pain in those big brown eyes.
If you would have given me a sign, I would have left you alone.
I would have let you rest, for these were your last three days.
But then again I would have held you tight, I would have given you a kiss and said "I love you" back.
Every time I pass by your bed there is no more you, there is nothing left.
I can still see you today
watching me eat a pizza and begging for the bread.
I know that you're in a good place
and I will never forget your lovely face.
Thank you so much for always being there.
My lovely dog, you remain in my heart
and you will always be loved even if this is the end.
