I remember the day we drove to get you. My wife saw you on PetFinder.com and fell in love with you instantly. We drove across 2 states so we could get you from the pound. You were nervous at first, wondering who these 2 strangers were. But on the ride home, you curled up in a ball and slept in a blanket all the way home.
You met your furry brother when you got home, and it was love at first sight. Nine years went by, and your face went from black and brown to gray. You still wanted to play all the time, but it was just slower now. Finally, your heart just couldn't go on anymore, and you just sat there motionless. I could see the look on your face saying,"I think its time, I can't live anymore."
I remember the tearful drive to the vet with my wife when we had to put aside our want for you to be in our lives and decide you couldn't live like this anymore. We held you in our arms while you went to sleep, and wondered if we did the right thing. Now the hole in our hearts will always remain.
We hope you have many new playmates to run with and chase, and hope you will remember us when we are finally reunited.
We love you, Gringo.
