I will miss the way you swam under ice, breaking it with your head...
I will miss our float trips and walks on the river bends...
I will miss how you caught rocks, how you never wanted to be alone, and how you would jump in the car just to be together.
I will miss how you laid on your back with your head on my lap and one paw on the steering wheel, my friend.
I will miss how you came to the kitchen and if there were leftovers, you barked at the refrig.
I will miss our hikes together and how you chased ravens away.
I will miss how you caught flies in the air, and how we sat on the porch together.
I will miss playing ball, and how you plopped on the ground and rolled.
I will miss your handshake and how you followed me everywhere.
I will miss how you carried logs that were bigger than you and the beautiful black curly coat.
I will miss watching you play with your friends and miss my alpha girl.
I will miss how you watched outside the window, and pushing your nose to open the door.
I will miss your barks to go outside or how you ran ahead of me on the trails and always came back to check on me.
I will miss the way your ears could position themselves in all kinds of ways.
You were a true friend. Thank you for placing your paw on my leg minutes before the end. Thank you for saving my life from the man who stood behind me with a rope. Thank you for bringing a man into my life on the same day of your death, a man who also lost his best friend.
I will always love you, Freesia, my curly coated friend.
