We got Buddy in early 1997 after seeing a little beagle running on the beach. We knew then we had to have one. We found a local breeder and took home the cutest one.
It wasn't long before he started going to work every day with me. He would sit in the passenger seat of the work van and put his arm on the armrest and look out the window. When I would stop at a job, he would get up and wedge himself sideways on the dash to get some sun. People would think he was fake or dead.
He got a lot of attention and training. He would respond to hand signals and one word commands. I had a lot of time to train him as it was before we had our son.
After I moved into sales 4 years later I had to start leaving him at home. He got a companion to stay home with, but every day when I headed out the door he looked to see if he was going with. He would wait at the gate for me to get home from work for quite awhile.
My son was born in '02 and they became best friends. Even though we had 2 great dogs, Buddy was his favorite. He was a wonderful dog and will be missed by many.
RIP my friend. Buddy left us 3/17/11.
